Teaching the next generation of PR pros

USF St. Pete student Danielle Lysik and recent graduate Courtney Grigsby joined the agency this summer to gain hands-on experience in the public relations industry and to further develop their skills.

As a B2 Communications intern, Danielle assists client teams with drafting social media posts, posting news releases and calendar events, and creating coverage and social media reports. She’s gaining experience with a range of nonprofit clients, including SPCA Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg Free Clinic, and the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg.

Danielle’s dream career involves working in the music industry, where she can coordinate public relations or marketing efforts for a concert promoter, venue, record label or artist. To gain more experience in the music industry, she recently accepted a job offer as a promotions coordinator for Cox Media Group. Danielle is majoring in marketing with a minor in mass communications at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, and she’s on track to graduate in spring 2019.

Courtney joined the team this summer as an intern for The Tampa Bay 100, B2’s publishing platform. In her role, Courtney researches topics and drafts stories that align with The Tampa Bay 100’s editorial interests and guidelines. She tracks the editorial calendar, assists with production, helps to manage the social media pages for the publication, and prepares reports that drive editorial decisions. Courtney is staying in the internship role through the fall 2018 semester.

Courtney’s dream career involves teaching at the collegiate level and working in health care PR. She graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and an outside concentration in business administration in 2017. She’s currently pursuing her master’s degree in strategic communications through Texas Tech University’s online program.
