B2 is proud to work with two nonprofit clients that make a difference in the lives of Pinellas County’s people and animals: St. Petersburg Free Clinic and SPCA Tampa Bay.
St. Petersburg Free Clinic provides food, shelter and healthcare to the working poor of Pinellas County. B2 is working to increase the visibility of the Free Clinic’s eight programs and the impact they have on the community.
Recently, we worked with the Tampa Tribune on the Free Clinic’s new Virginia & David Baldwin Women’s Residence. The Women’s Residence provides a safe place to live while women develop the skills necessary for independent living, like finding a job, developing a budget and writing a resume. The new building will more than double the program’s current capacity, allowing the Free Clinic to help more women in Pinellas County become self-sufficient.
B2 is also working with a nonprofit organization caring for local animals. SPCA Tampa Bay is an open admission animal welfare agency that cares for more than 7,500 animals each year.
B2 is working with SPCA to raise awareness of the important work the agency does in caring and advocating for Pinellas County’s animals, particularly in the areas of health and wellness, training and adoptions.
For example, SPCA’s senior director of veterinary services, Dr. Rizal Lopez, appeared on WFLA’s “Daytime” TV show during Heartworm Awareness Month. In the segment, he educated viewers on the importance of regular, preventative heartworm treatments for pets.
When we form the account team for new clients, we think about individual skill sets and related experience. For these two clients, B2 principal Missy MacFarlane, APR, and senior account executive Laura Fontanills, APR, offer valuable insight from their past work with nonprofits.
Missy has worked with many nonprofit clients throughout her career, including Moffitt Cancer Center, the Dalí Museum, Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts, Ybor City Museum Society, Tampa Baseball Museum, AMIkids and Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research. She has led an all-volunteer trade association, PRSA Tampa Bay, and served as the Philanthropy Chair for FemFessionals’ Tampa Bay chapter.
Prior to joining B2, Laura worked with the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, Casey Health Institute and the Sustany Foundation. Through her leadership position with High Hopes in High Heels, Laura has worked with various nonprofit organizations such as Kids and Canines, Hounds 4 Heroes, Children’s Cancer Center and the National Eating Disorder Association.
We look forward to helping the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and SPCA Tampa Bay continue to share their expertise and their success as they help people and pets in our community.
