B2 Communications has promoted Laura Fontanills, APR, from senior account executive to account manager. In her new role, Fontanills will provide strategic counsel to clients that work with the firm on public relations initiatives, including media relations, social media, community relations, and media training, while also coaching and mentoring the firm’s junior staffers.

In addition to her client work, Fontanills manages B2’s internship program. Two students intern with B2 each semester to gain real-world public relations experience.

“Laura’s dedication to her clients and her high-quality work has made her an invaluable asset to B2,” said Kyle Parks, co-founder and principal of B2 Communications. “Her promotion is a reflection of her consistent growth at the agency and the impact she makes for our clients every day.”

Fontanills’ public relations work has been recognized by her peers. Active in the community, Fontanills has served as president of Ekhos, a group of young professional female leaders who support each other in their careers and personal development. She also has served as a board member of High Hopes in High Heels, a nonprofit organization that volunteers with local charities and provides them with resources to continue their missions. Additionally, she has served in committee roles for the Tampa Bay Chapter of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Fontanills began her public relations career at Tampa-based public affairs firm Tucker/Hall, where she worked in community relations and government affairs. She then worked as the account director at Common Language, a former boutique public relations firm in St. Petersburg, where she managed communications programs for technology and wellness clients.

Fontanills graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations from the University of South Florida, and earned her Accreditation in Public Relations in 2013.
