Esther Bergdahl

B2 is proud to partner with Esther Bergdahl, a journalist, editor and essayist with wide-ranging expertise and more than 15 years of experience crafting prose and persuasive arguments.

Esther has worked with sectors from nonprofits and public health to top-ranked business schools and digital media outlets. She has published articles breaking down complex and niche topics, from insurance and hospital administration to tech, history and culture, for audiences at Vice, Publishers Weekly, The Chicago Tribune and Mental Floss, among others. As copy chief at millennial news startup Mic, she built a fact-checking and copy-editing desk known for its commitment to accuracy, speed and clear communication. She has also worked closely with bestselling nonfiction authors on structural development, deep research and line editing.

Since 2015, Esther’s freelance clients have included the STEM education initiative 100Kin10, Zocdoc’s patient experience storytelling blog The Paper Gown, millennial personal finance website Sapling and nonprofit newsrooms such as The Trace and The Fuller Project.

Along with her undergraduate studies in Great Books at the University of Chicago, Esther graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a focus on magazine editing and writing, concentrating on profiles and long-form reporting. Today she lives in Chicago, where in her free time she enjoys printmaking, kdramas and her cowardly Rottweiler mix Ira.
