When SoHo Capital’s leadership team wanted ideas for developing a new market hall in the former Armature Works building in Tampa Heights, they went to see other successful markets around the country.
After visiting such facilities as the Ponce City and Krog Street markets in Atlanta, the Eataly market in Chicago and the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, their work has resulted in a plan for a distinctive 22,000-square-foot market hall that promises to attract both locals and visitors.
In our work with SoHo, we aim to spotlight the care and thoughtfulness that’s going into its entire 43-acre project, called The Heights. That approach was described well in a Tampa Bay Times story about plans for the Heights Market, part of a significant amount of ongoing coverage of the new project.
In addition to the Heights Market, the former Armature Works building will include two event spaces, two restaurants, a shared workspace, and a rooftop social area. The first phase of the overall Heights project will also include construction of The Pearl, a 314-unit apartment complex, and an expansion of the Tampa Riverwalk with activities tied to the Hillsborough River.
Many of the area’s business and government leaders got a preview of SoHo’s plans at an unveiling event in June, coordinated by B2 and our public relations partner, Williams Consulting Group. The announcement attracted nearly 150 people, including Mayor Bob Buckhorn, along with wide news coverage.
Among the outlets covering the event were the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Tampa Bay Times, and 83 Degrees. The story in the Business Journal was ranked one of the top-read stories in the first half of 2016.
The event also drew TV coverage from ABC Action News (WFTS), My Fox Tampa Bay (WTVT), and News Channel 8 (WFLA).
The constants in the coverage? The Heights is a game-changer for Tampa, and SoHo Capital is putting the project together in a deliberate, thoughtful way.
