Account Executive

B2 Communications is hiring an account executive who can contribute to the creation of effective PR plans and play a key role in executing PR tactics that achieve goals.

The account executive has experience in a variety of PR tactics (writing, relationship building and media outreach) with a strong appetite to further expand their skillset. They work within a team to delivering quality work and contribute to client and team objectives in a meaningful way.

This person is a voracious reader and news junkie. This account executive is a flexible self-starter who is able to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities for Account Executives

  • Account service:
    • Understand clients’ needs and identify opportunities to achieve client goals.
    • Contribute to the creation of PR plans that effectively meet clients’ communications objectives.
    • Create and follow project timelines, communicate status, meet deadlines and work with team leads to accomplish client goals.
    • Schedule and attend client meetings, organize notes, and track progress toward deliverables and deadlines.
    • Address client needs in a timely manner and proactively communicate with clients and colleagues.
  • Media relations:
    • Develop news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, guest columns, op-eds and other materials in journalistic style.
    • Cultivate relationships with key reporters, producers and editors in key geographic markets and/or industry trade verticals.
    • Draft pitches that will resonate with individual reporters, producers and editors. Follow through on media relations efforts.
    • Create media talking points and materials that will prepare spokespersons for interviews.
  • Content development:
    • Write newsletter articles, blog posts and other materials in journalistic style.
    • Develop content ideas: create/manage editorial calendars, interview subject matter experts, and research topics.
    • Create compelling, relevant content for social media.
    • Layout email newsletters through programs like MailChimp or Constant Contact.
    • Update online assets through content management systems like WordPress.
  • Research & reporting:
    • Deliver client reports on key accomplishments, activities, and media coverage.
    • Create performance dashboards and report on progress toward key metrics.
    • Research, analyze and formulate plans for editorial calendars, award opportunities, calls for presentations, and other opportunities for visibility.
    • Complete research tasks as assigned.
  • Work independently by prioritizing tasks and following through on projects to completion.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Media relations principles, such as pitching, news writing and interview preparation.
  • Accurate writer with stellar grammatical skills and strong command of journalistic and AP style.
  • Proficiency with core PR tools and technology, including:
    • Microsoft Office programs
    • WordPress (or similar content management system)
    • MuckRack (or similar media research database and media monitoring systems)
    • MailChimp (or similar email marketing platform)
    • Loomly (or other social media management/scheduling tools)
    • Zoom
    • Google Business Suite (Gmail, Google Calendars, Drive, etc.)
    • Dropbox
    • Slack

Required Experience for Account Executives

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in public relations, communications or journalism, with at least 1 year at a PR agency.
  • Experience in working with news media (or experience working as a journalist), with a preference for business-orientated media.
  • Bachelor’s degree required – focus on journalism, communications or public relations preferred.

Additional Requirements

This is a full-time hybrid position based in St. Petersburg, Florida. B2 is a fully virtual agency, however, the responsibilities require in-person meetings with clients and supervision at photo shoots and media interviews in the Tampa Bay region on a regular basis.

B2 will consider candidates within Florida. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the Tampa Bay region, in Central Florida or along Florida’s Gulf Coast – or would relocate within 6 months of starting the position.


Salary range is $45,000-$55,000 for an account executive at B2 Communications. Benefits include group health insurance, paid time off, access to co-working space, stipend for cell phone and internet, and ample opportunities for professional development.
